Concrete Experience Since 1950

Grodno Construction Materials Plant is a company with a long tradition in the building industry, specializing in the production of autoclaved aerated and dense concrete products for housing construction. Established in January 1950 on the foundation of three earlier enterprises, the plant grew from small seasonal workshops into a major mechanized facility. By 1965, the newly built lime and silicate factories were merged with existing production into a single enterprise, forming the Grodno Construction Materials Plant. Over the decades it has developed into a large multi-sector producer serving the construction industry across Belarus and neighboring regions.

The plant’s core product is autoclaved aerated concrete blocks, a modern material that combines the qualities of wood and stone. Thanks to its porous structure filled with air, it provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. The mass of the material balances temperature fluctuations, keeping interiors comfortable during both summer heat and winter cold. Its heat-accumulating properties reduce energy consumption for heating, while durability and minimal maintenance make it a reliable choice for long-term construction. Recent requirements for thermal protection of buildings have led to the production of blocks with lower density grades such as D350, D400 and D500, while maintaining strength and precise geometry.

Advanced equipment from the German company Wehrhahn allows the plant to produce blocks for thin-joint masonry with adhesive seams as small as 3 mm, reducing thermal bridges in exterior walls. Research by the Belarusian Institute of Construction Science has shown that blocks laid with 3 mm adhesive seams provide 20 percent higher thermal resistance compared to traditional mortar joints. Aerated concrete walls breathe naturally, maintaining a favorable indoor climate. The exact dimensions and smooth surfaces of the blocks reduce finishing costs, while the material remains environmentally safe and easy to process with standard woodworking tools. It also offers high resistance to corrosion and fire, meeting the first degree of fire safety standards.

Certified under STB 1117-98 and compliant with European standard EN 771-4:2011+A1:2015, the plant’s products meet international requirements. In climates of Belarus, the Baltic states, Scandinavia and northern Russia, autoclaved aerated concrete achieves stable operational moisture levels of 4 to 5 percent after two heating seasons, ensuring long-term performance. For convenience, blocks are produced with grip pockets on their sides, simplifying handling and reducing labor costs during construction. With its combination of thermal efficiency, durability and ecological safety, Grodno Construction Materials Plant continues to play a vital role in modern housing development.
